Baritone Philip Burke of Carbondale is a clinical psychologist by trade and an assistant professor at SIUC, where he blends his roles as a practicing psychologist, clinical researcher, and teacher.  Prior to earning his PhD in psychology, Dr. Burke earned a Master of Music degree in Opera and Music Theatre from SIUC.  He is a two-time regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, a two-time apprentice artist at the Santa Fe Opera, and a winner of the Midwest Regional Artists’ Competition.  His concert work includes appearances in Cincinnati, Chicago, St. Louis, Houston, Santa Fe, in Milwaukee with the Bel Canto Chorus and Orchestra and the Milwaukee Ballet, and throughout Southern Illinois including a dozen appearances as a soloist with the SIUC Choral Union.  Among his operatic roles are Olin Blitch in Susannah, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, and Capulet in Romeo et Juliette.
